PTA (Parent Teacher Association)
The PTA of Sharlston Community School is made up of volunteers (mainly parents of children at the school) who meet once a week to work on fundraising ideas to add to school funds. These funds are used to enhance and enrich the experiences of all pupils in school. Over the past year, funds have been raised by holding a summer fair, Halloween and Valentine Discos, an Easter Bingo event, weekly tuck shops and refreshment selling at the KS1/2 Sports Days (to name but a few). The funds have been used to pay for the coaches to take all full time children to the Christmas pantomime, jars for the Reading initiative in school, Good to be Green rewards, Sharlston Attendance prize raffle and Easter eggs (again to name but a few). The monies received by school from the Summer and Xmas fairs are used to pay for Christmas presents for all the children, and events to enhance the curriculum in school such as African Drumming. please see below for more details of PTA funds and how they have been used.Currently the PTA are raising money towards a new multi purpose games area to improve our playground and outdoor provision.
The members of the PTA work very hard in their own time to make these exciting events happen and always welcome additional support. If you would like to find out more about our work, including viewing the accounts, or if you would like to get involved, please contact a member of the PTA via the School Office.
